Clerks II

Wow, just got home from seeing Clerks II and it ROCKED, seriously rocked.

The acting was top notch, honestly (particularly Randal & Dante), the jokes were hysterical, and just...wow!

If you are in any way a Kevin Smith fan - or maybe even if you're not, although some of the jokes won't quite make sense - you MUST go see this movie.

I'll probably post again later once I've pondered it more (some of it hit fairly close to home), but I just wanted to say,

"Bravo, Mr. Smith. Bravo."
I know I did one of these a few months ago, but [livejournal.com profile] per_solo did one, and I want to play, too. So, here goes:

Name the movies these are from:

1. "You, boy, are arrogant, hot tempered and entirely too bold. I like that. Reminds me of me." The Three Musketeers, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] brujah [Actually, my favorite quote from this movie is "*God* I love my work!", also said by Oliver Platt, but it doesn't translate well in this sort of situation...it's a visual thing.]

2. "Gentlemen, congratulations. You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training." Men In Black, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] negative_42

3. "Patriotism swells in the heart of the American bear." The Muppet Movie, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] kshandra [And thanks for the tip on the Muppet Central radio, I'm gonna have to check it out. I remember this line mostly because I used to have (ok, still have - somewhere) the 8-track tape of the soundtrack, and they include it in the appropriate part of the song on the soundtrack.]

4. "Dad, I may not be the best, but I come to believe that I got it in me to be somebody in this world. And it's not because I'm so different from you either, it's because I'm the same. I mean, I can be just as hard-headed, and just as tough. I only hope I can be as good a man as you. Sure, Warner Von Braun is a great scientist… but he isn't my hero." October Sky, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] royalcrow [who is the person I expected would know this, but I was wondering if anyone else would. ;)]

5. "I know. You know I know. I know you know I know. We know Henry knows, and Henry knows we know it. We're a knowledgeable family." The Lion in Winter, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] janetmiles

6. "Their tiny bunny brains are being saturated in my veg-free mind waves." Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] alaindan

7. "Cause the house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big, then you take the house." Oceans Eleven, also guessed by [livejournal.com profile] alaindan

8. "Say, do any of you know the Madison?" Rocky Horror Picture Show, also guessed by [livejournal.com profile] janetmiles

9. "Mrs. MacNeil, the problem with your daughter is not her bed, it's her brain." The Exorcist, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] negative_42

10. "Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world - except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe - they're so perky, I love that." The Princess Bride, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] soaring_phoenix

Some are going to be easy, some are hard. :)

Wow, I'm impressed...or I made it too easy. I'm going to have to try harder next time. Or, maybe I'll do an 80's lyric quiz. ;)

Movie meme

Yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] sexyexpy, with the directive "If you've seen over 70, you have no life. Number the ones you've seen. Post your score and feel like a loser." I'm pretty sure I had a life around here *somewhere*...but it seems to have wandered off for popcorn. ;)

I scored *exactly* 70. )

It would be over 70 if the movies I've seen part of count toward the total. Or the number of movies which I *have* seen that aren't on here, including favorites "Monty Python & the Holy Grail", "War Games", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "The Breakfast Club", etc. Oh, yeah, and does watching "Mr. Holland's Opus" repeatedly count? ;)

[EDIT: Based on a slight change that [livejournal.com profile] sailorjim and [livejournal.com profile] kightp made to the meme, I have since gone back & bolded the movies I saw in the theater rather than DVD/On Demand.]
