I found this link off a message board this morning, and I watched it first with humor, and then with astonishment.

9 year old argues with his mother on an Xbox Live.
WARNING!!! NOT WORKSAFE DUE TO LANGUAGE!!!!

In case you don't catch it, apparently when you play this particular game (or maybe when you play Xbox Live, I don't know) you wear a headset, and your game character LIP-SYNCHS whatever you say. The kid is NOT the player who's view you see this through, the kid is the one you see through the scope. You can watch the character "speak" this kid's tantrum.

Anyway, if this were MY kid, there wouldn't BE an Xbox anymore; however, it's just as obvious from the language of the kid & the behavior of the parent that this kid gets away with this crap all the time.

[livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva, I know you feel bad about what you've had to do with Sammy today - but rest assured, by what you do today, you take a firm step toward assuring she will NEVER turn into this demanding, foul-mouthed BRAT. It probably won't make you feel any better, but it's important to know.

Feel free to discuss the video.

Costumes

OK, well, for those who were playing along at home, I finally decided to go to work dressed as "Tony the Cable Guy". I wore a Comcast t-shirt, jeans, a Comcast jacket, workboots, toolbelt, and a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap (that Tony wears all the time.)

This is how it came out:

On Friday they announced a costume contest where the docs in the office that day would judge, and the winner would get a Simon Mall Giftcard. Only 4 of us went in costume...there was myself, a Cat In The Hat, a Martha Stewart (complete with basket of goodies & recipes) and a patient?/doctor? in a surgical gown with a fake butt hanging out & flesh colored stockings on so she looked like she was nekkid under the gown (this was one of the nurses.)

The judges couldn't decide, so we ALL get gift cards. Cool. Several people wanted to call me Larry, but most of the people got it & cracked up. Therefore, it was a successful costume.

Go me! ;)
This list is compiled by Dagonet Dewr, but is pretty thorough.

What is remembered, lives. )

I would add to this list, from my personal knowledge:

Baron Gundric Fawkes (mka Rob Vozniak) -- all-around good guy & SCA friend
Edna P. (Staggs) Woods -- mother of my friend Brent L. Woods
Ronald C. Hamaker, MD -- physician, inventor, inspiration
Eleanor Karvelis -- my grade-school principal, first female principal of Ridgefield, CT High School (in 1995 but I just found out about it this year)
[livejournal.com profile] ericthemad -- friend of [livejournal.com profile] syreene and [livejournal.com profile] royalcrow

I also add all those that I know that I heard of but can't remember at this time who are not included on either list.
